Healthcare solution offers hope for hepatitis patients

Infosys believes that technology should change lives. Our web-based workflow and knowledge management tool bridges the gap between healthcare specialists in cities and providers in rural areas.

Infosys' solution helps doctors treat Hepatitis C patients in New Mexico, United States, as part of Project ECHO (Extension for Community Care Outcomes) of the University of New Mexico Hospitals.

Infosys' clinical management solution enables physicians to link with specialists in a region that has limited access to medical professionals. The web-based assessment technology helps physicians track the status of patients. In addition, the robust database of the solution enables doctors to treat other diseases.

According to Dr. Sanjay Arora, Director, Project ECHO, this model can be replicated across the United States and developing countries. It is already being applied for an autism project in India.

Project ECHO has been recognized for innovative use of technology. Dr. Sanjay Arora was honored as a ComputerWorld Honors Program 2008 Laureate. Project ECHO won the 'Disruptive Innovations in Health and Health Care: Solutions People Want' award  Opens in a new window from Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
