Will your organizational knowledge retire with your workforce?

The manufacturing industry must leverage a comprehensive technology-enabled solution to address the challenge of its rapidly aging workforce, according to David P. Spencer, VP, Discrete Manufacturing, Infosys. In an article in Manufacturing Business Technology, he discusses how manufacturing can resolve a human resources (HR) issue by implementing knowledge management solutions.

To compete effectively in the Flat World, companies must have a robust foundation of knowledge retention and sharing enabled by technology. David believes that companies must focus on people, process, content and technology for effective knowledge management. They must leverage Web 2.0 and social networking technologies to facilitate unstructured knowledge-sharing. He cites the “Wiki” model to capture, maintain, share and replicate knowledge.
